BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

There have been many on going positive activities in Braeburn Valley this summer. The Bar-B-Q celebrating Memorial Day was a huge success. Hot dogs and hamburgers were enjoyed by all. Jimmy Gabriel and Richard Rabe are fantastic cooks.

Our Fourth of July Parade and Celebration at the Pool was another great activity, enjoyed by many members of Braeburn Valley, the turn out was great. Thanks to Gene Yi and her helpers, for the parade and Jimmy and Richard once again for the cooking. Thanks also to Wanda Mommsen and Lacy Lovelady for making sure all our residents were wearing their pool tags. Please make sure you continue to wear your tags for the rest of the swim season.

Please check our social calendar in this newsletter. There are many activities that residents have requested, and we are trying to get them organized. If you would like to join, let us hear from you.

I am very happy to inform you that Braeburn Valley now has its own Website. You may view it at www.braeburnvalley.com. On behalf of myself and the residents of our subdivision, I would like to thank Mary Ann Waite (a board member) and Sandy Taylor for this very informative site. Please check out all the information on the site. Homeowners: There is a copy of ACC form, Deed Restrictions and loads of information. Realtors: Lots and lots of information about our subdivision. New Comers: Information about schools, parks, medical assistance, government, etc. Any information or questions about our site, please direct to AVR Management at (281) 481-8062.

Please mark the following dates on your calendars: October 29, 2002—General Homeowners Meeting; November 9, 2002—Fund Raiser Festival for HPD at Wal-Mart.

This is a reminder for all residents to keep watch in our neighborhood. If you see anything out of the ordinary, please call Security Sure at (713) 778-1233 or HPD at (713) 222-3131 and have it checked out.

Please remember to send in your ACC forms for all improvements to the outside of your house to AVR Management.

We have some exciting news for you! Our brand new website is up!! Please go to www.braeburnvalley.com and add to your Favorites or make it your homepage! There is so much to look at! You may see yourself or your neighbor on there. We have lots of links to other websites too. If you need an ACC request you can print one out. If you lose your newsletter—you can find it there too! Our webmaster is Sandy Taylor, a computer scientist from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Sandy is here from California with her husband visiting her mother Nadyne Thompson who lives in Braeburn Valley. Sandy likes to travel and quilt and has also put together a website for her church in California. Sandy has volunteered many long hours to put this altogether and she has done an outstanding job of making our website the best there is! Do I sound excited? Check it out and you will see why! If you have any suggestions or ideas or would like to put in a free ad, please e-mail me.

MOSQUITOES

Homeowners due to the West Nile virus problem, the BVHOA Board of Directors voted to spray for mosquitoes on a daily basis for the month of August. Please make sure you check for any standing water and always use mosquito repellant

containing DEET when you plan to be outside.

HELPFUL WEBSITES

The Internet is a great resource when you need information. For homeowners is particular, we need all the help we can get. Especially, if the information is "free".

NEW IDEAS FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY FOOD

The following are some recipes that one of our directors, Mary Ann Waite, would like to share with the residents.

Mary Ann’s Cilantro Dip

1-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese

1-cup Pace Medium Picante Sauce

1-bunch fresh cilantro

1-T. fresh lime juice

2-tsp. garlic powder (not garlic salt)

1/2 tsp. cumin

Put all in a blender on high until well blended. Serve with tortilla chips. Tastes even better after 24 hours in the refrigerator if you can wait that long!!

Rachael’s Salsa (my daughter-in-law)

2-16 oz. cans of diced tomatoes

(Albertson’s brand was the best!)

1-can Rotel tomatoes

1-envelope Lawrey’s Fresh Tomato Salsa seasoning

Put all in blender (do not drain) and pulse on chop for a few seconds until the seasoning mixed well.

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I have and please let me know what you think! Our next newsletter (October/November) will be "Give a gift in a Jar" recipes—just in time for the holidays!
